Place-Based Report

Strengthening Rural Canada: Why Place Matters in Rural Communities - Place-based approaches are most frequently used as a response to complex community issues that are persistent or structural in nature. While the focus, scope and intensity of place-based approaches vary, they most commonly result in new, locally made strategies and interventions that use, modify and/or extend existing resources in order to better serve the particular needs of a given community.

Guidebook

A Guidebook for Place-Based Approaches to Literacy and Essential Skills Development - This guidebook describes the process that the pilot communities used for literacy and essential skills planning over the course of a year. Also, the project and this guidebook were informed by annual place-based community planning for literacy in more than 100 communities in British Columbia. This planning process has been ongoing since 2004.
